
| | Ryan Shivdasani is a versatile musician, with an extensive background in classical, jazz, and popular guitar styles. He began as a self taught player, playing in his high school jazz band and various rock bands. In 1999, he was a finalist in a nation-wide Jimi Hendrix competition. After receiving an Associate of Science degree from American River College, he was accepted into the multi-focus guitar performance program at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. At CalArts, Ryan studied classical guitar with Stuart Fox and Miroslav Tadic, as well as jazz guitar with Larry Koonse. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in guitar performance in 2007. Since graduating from CalArts, Ryan has continued to study and practice jazz improvisation, as well as progressed in his classical repertoire and skills. He has composed and recorded music for films and commercials, performed in a variety of venues including folk music, gypsy jazz and classical. He enjoys teaching and working with young students, and sharing his passion for music. Ryan currently studies with Emre Sabuncuoglu. | | | | |
