| Guitar Lessons offered at LAGA |
| Classical Guitar 101: |
Designed to develop a basic understanding of guitar playing through a wide scope of traditional and modern techniques. Topics include basic position, left hand, free/rest stroke, stretching, warm-up exercises; establishing a practice routine, introduction to the Alexander Technique and its use in guitar playing, diatonic scales, left/right-hand coordination exercises, staccato and legato. Flamenco and Latin strumming techniques (rasgueados) are incorporated to enforce a solid rhythmic background. Thus, helping the student to establish a balanced, well-developed right hand technique and helping them to get to know and appreciate the rich repertory and performance practices of the instrument. |

| Classical Guitar 102: |
To introduce more advanced techniques of guitar playing while developing an understanding of Renaissance, Baroque and Classical in Western music history throughout the semester. Topics include: higher positions on the finger board, effortless shifting, sight-reading techniques, damping, memorization, tonal shading, nails, tone quality, vibrato, articulation, phrasing, hinge bars, advanced arpeggios, ornamentation. |

| Classical Guitar 201: |
Develop the student's musicianship. Also decrease the physical aspect of practicing by concentrating on visualization, and mental practicing techniques. Establishing a healthy physical and mental connection between the instrument and the student, thus reflecting his/her own personality on performance. Topics covered include mental practicing, improving inner hearing, advanced coordination exercises, speed scales, natural and artificial harmonics, mixed meters, advanced rhythm exercises, polyrhythm: 3 against 2, 3 against 4 and more. |

Designed for those with professional career goals. Topics covered include; Alexander Technique, stage fright, power of focus in performance, dealing with mistakes, memory slips, planning and preparation, advanced Alexander Technique. |

| Suzuki Guitar Lessons (Ages 3-12): |
The purpose of Suzuki training is to help every child to find the joy that comes through creating music. Through the Suzuki growing process, children thrive in an environment of total support; developing confidence and self-esteem, as well as determination to try difficult things. Self-discipline and concentration, as well as the sensitivity and skill for making music are only some of the rewards of the Suzuki program. Through an initial rote learning approach, students are able to play music quickly and successfully. Music reading is postponed until the child's aural and instrumental skills are well established. Since each child progresses at his/her own pace, the Academy curriculum moves in small steps so that the child can master the material with a total sense of success. |

Introduction to the flamenco and latin repertoire with in depth study of the concepts such as compas, falseta and rasgueados. |

| Arranging, improvisation and song writing: |
Designed for those who are seeking to reach a level on guitar that will enable them to arrange and play music of their favorite styles. A solid understanding of improvisation and composition is developed. Hands-on coaching on music software such as Finale and Sibelius. |

Meet with other students, experience the joy of making music together. This is open to all of our students and is included in the tuition. |

| Music theory 101: |
Basic concepts such as intervals, triads, chords and cadences are covered. Each concept is illustrated on guitar. |

| Music theory 102: |
In-depth study of more advanced topics such as modulation, sequences, 7th, 9th, 13th chords, secondary dominants. Music theory from a mathematical perspective. No past mathematical knowledge or interest is necessary. |
