In January 2009, Los Angeles Guitar Academy launched its online guitar lesson platform, LAGA Online. From its humble beginnings as a simple repertoire database for our in-studio classes and private lessons, our online options expanded into a stand-alone program which has attracted students from all over North America. For the first time, LAGA students could now enjoy learning to play the guitar from the comfort of their own homes.

For more advanced guitarists, LAGA Online offers a teacher development program that trains students in the techniques that have made Los Angeles Guitar Academy a world-class institution. Teacher Development Program students learn how to teach with the Alexander Technique, as well as the rote kinesthetic and reverse kinesthetic approaches that make learning the guitar seem easy. LAGA’s teaching students learn communication and leadership skills that will help them in either the studio or the classroom.

Online Lessons Versus Private Lessons in Person

Disadvantages:

        * Less personal contact with the instructors and fellow students

        * Fewer opportunities for hands-on instruction

        * Feedback will be via electronic transmission rather than in-person

Advantages:

        * The cost of online lessons is far less than in-person

        * Online lessons save on travel costs, while helping the environment

        * Students from all over the world can take online lessons

        * Students who are timid can learn in the privacy of their homes
